A bund wall lining services is a structure that holds liquid, normally oil or chemicals, to prevent spills and tank failures. Often, the bund will require lining/relining in order to protect the concrete substrate from the chemical being stored. This will ensure that the structure will remain in good condition, and not be eroded or weakened by the chemical being stored.
The lining of a bund should be done with a material that is resistant to the liquid being stored, and that will also provide secondary containment in the event of a tank failure. This can be achieved by using a specialised polyurethane bund coating. This product is similar to an epoxy in terms of high adhesion to the concrete and resistance to chemicals, however it has the added benefit of being highly elastomeric. This means it will bridge hairline cracks in the concrete, and also stretch to accommodate cyclical daily changes in substrate expansion and contraction.
Sealing Safely: Navigating the Benefits of Specialized Bund Wall Lining Services
As with any concrete repair and resurfacing project, the bund wall should be inspected before applying the new resin coating system. Any movement joints, construction and penetration joints must be correctly sealed with a suitable chemically resistant joint sealant. Failure to do this could result in the leaking of liquid across the movement joint interface and ultimately undermine the integrity of the new bund lining system.
SLS utilises an industrial shot blasting machine to prepare bund walls for relining. This ensures that the lining will adhere and makes sure the surface is completely clean. In addition, SLS operatives use an epoxy based screed to cover any cracks in the concrete floor and make it level.
